Replacement Element Panel Filters
For drivers that require 30% more airflow* and a lifetime, washable air filter** but without an increase in intake sound, a Pipercross replacement element panel filters provide the perfect solution. Designed as an original equipment replacement, a Pipercross panel filter replaces the factory air filter within the airbox. Installation is as simple as opening the airbox, discarding the old filter and replacing it with a free-flowing Pipercross air filter. As airborn dirt particles are trapped by a paper or cotton-gauze air filter, there is a dramatic increase in pressure drop which essentially robs the engine of airflow and power. Due to the deep foam construction of each Pipercross air filter, airflow is able to negotiate trapped dirt. Air filter service intervals are extended with the Pipercross panel filter, with a lifespan (between cleaning) of double that of the same paper filter and nearly three times that of a cotton-gauze filter. By simply cleaning and refitting the Pipercross panel filter, there is less waste and service costs are reduced. Performance Induction Kits Each Pipercross Induction kit is an air intake system designed specifically for your car. Research, development and testing is carried out on every kit to ensure that the product we make performs well, looks fantastic and is easy to fit. The 150mm outer diameter base we use for Induction kits and Viper intakes create laminar air flow to keep air turbulence to a minimum. Turbulence causes drag which slows the airflow down and limits the flow rate of any induction system. Air filter units without a full radius edge create turbulence, thus reducing their effectiveness. At the heart of the Pipercross air filter is a specially developed polyurethane foam which acts as the filtration medium, having both higher performance and life expectancy than paper. Pipercross reticulated foam is created by a chemical reaction - it's placed in a gas filled combustion chamber where a controlled explosion burns away any complete cell walls in the material to form a strictly quality controlled skeletal cellular structure. This process ensures that the foam consists of tiny open cells which trap contaminants to protect your engine against even the harshest of environments without compromising air flow. Viper Kits The technology used in the Pipercross Viper was first seen on the famous Lotus 340R, but soon became available for an ever increasing range of popular road cars. Using 'velocity air force', each Viper air intake directs cold air directly into the engine. The cold air feed takes air from an area of cold, dense air straight into the Viper's inlet, swirling it through a unique Pipercross reverse-flow air filter contained within a carbon fibre heat shield, then into a ram pipe to increase the air pressure before feeding it into the induction system. The carbon fibre heat shield protects the air charge from under bonnet heat keeping it cool -and therefore more dense -thus introducing more oxygen into the combustion mixture, giving increased power. The reverse flow technology filter and 150mm ram pipe make use of the physical phenomenon of air tending to move towards surface areas, creating more air flow on the edge rather than in the centre of the inlet. The unique design of the filter cone and the inlet 'tune' the moving air flow to increase its speed and therefore its pressure maximizing the laminar air flow into the engine, again resulting in increased power. Velocity Intake Systems (VIS) The Pipercross VIS or Velocity Intake System, is a carbon fibre air intake designed to maximise the torque produced by your engine, the natural extension of this being an increase in horsepower. By relocating the air filter away from the heat of the engine, the supply of cooler, dense air gives a reliable increase in power. Each VIS utilises a Pipercross Vector power cone with a unique foam construction, using the same technology as our air filter for Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship. Maximum air flow with the ultimate engine protection. The section of pipework is made from aerospace quality pre-impregnated carbon fibre, that incorporates a proprietary thermal barrier layer in its construction. The use of various fibre composites is geared specifically towards keeping the inside of the intake tract as cool as possible. BMC Air Filters
The tuned design of the VIS gives a broader, usable power band with superior airflow when compared to the standard airbox and a specially textured inlet surface offers a much better throttle response. On popular turbo engines this can result in a signification reduction in turbo lag.
